# Energy Domain
> Energy Domain is upstream decision infrastructure for oil & gas. It integrates well-level production data, rig intelligence, and courthouse records into a single map-first workflow used by the teamsunderwriting, acquiring, operating, and managing assets. Built by oil & gasprofessionals and based in Fort Worth, TX. The company's tagline is"Evaluate. Transact. Move faster."
Energy Domain is used by operators, non-op buyers, mineralaggregators, and A&D advisors across the upstream market. Its two primaryproducts are **Fundamentals** (the core data subscription — well data, production allocations, rig tracking, permits, and area-of-interest monitoring)and **TitleLab** (patent-pending courthouse intelligence for land and mineralworkflows). Every dataset is validated, normalized, and tied to confirmed APInumbers, and includes state-reported data plus proprietary derived datasetsthat don't exist elsewhere.

## Platform Overview
Energy Domain mirrors how upstream teams actually work —spatially first, then progressively narrowing until the data reflects the exactslice of activity that matters. The application opens directly to a live mapview (no onboarding wizard); users zoom to a county, lease block, or basintrend, apply filters, and drill into individual wells.
The workflow has three stages:
1. **Start on the map.** Log in to a live map view andorient spatially the way upstream decisions begin.
2. **Filter aggressively.** Apply operator, reservoir, status, production, and vintage filters. The map and data table update in sync, moving from broad screening to targeted evaluation in minutes.
3. **Analyze at well level.** Click any well for headerdata, allocated production, directional surveys, and ownership in a side panel— enabling rapid offset comparison without losing map context.
Getting started: create an account at energydomain.com/data,define an area (counties, basins, or nationwide, managed in-app), then work asusual — pull production, track rigs, build type curves, and export to Excel,Aries, or PHDwin, or connect to Spotfire or Power BI through DataStream Direct.

## Fundamentals (Core Subscription)
Fundamentals is Energy Domain's core subscription: deriveddata to evaluate deals, monitor activity, and move faster across every countyand basin a team operates in. Overview page: https://www.energydomain.com/data
What's inside:
- **Interactive Map** — Start on the map and apply filters;wells, rigs, permits, and laterals update instantly, from basin screening towell-level detail.
- **Production Allocations** — Well-test-driven allocationsfor Texas and Louisiana, with lease-level volumes broken into well-levelestimates under volume conservation and transparent methodology.
- **Daily Rig Tracking** — Roughly 65% of rig positionssourced directly from drilling contractors, the rest from satellite imagery, for 94–99% coverage versus the Baker Hughes count. Updated daily.
- **AOI Alerts** — Define custom areas of interest andreceive a daily email digest when new permits, rigs, DUCs, or active wellsappear inside your boundaries.
- **Type Curves and Forecasting** — Generate forecasts andtype curves with flexible decline modeling built into the application.
- **DataStream Direct** — JDBC/ODBC connectivity forSpotfire, Power BI, Tableau, or custom scripts.
- **Well List Matching** — Upload a list of well names;Energy Domain resolves them to API numbers without requiring APIs in your file, with fuzzy matching support.
Data refresh cadence: core state-reported production andwell headers update on each state agency's reporting schedule; well statusesare event-driven and update daily; rig locations update daily, with intra-dayupdates in active areas; derived datasets (allocations, Confirmed Intervals, calculated headers) re-run as new well tests and state records arrive; Texasmineral appraisal data updates annually.
Data sources beyond state regulatory data: drillingcontractor filings and satellite imagery (rig locations), FracFocus(completions), New Tech / Thompson Z-Map formation tops (Confirmed Intervalidentification), and Texas county appraisal rolls and tax records (mineralappraisals). Operator and reservoir names are normalized across inconsistentstate and operator reporting.
Pricing model: subscriptions by county, basin, ornationwide, on monthly or annual terms, with no long-term contracts and noenterprise negotiation required. Subscriptions and seat allocations areself-managed in the platform. Texas mineral appraisal data and tax rolls areincluded at no additional cost. Pricing is built to be accessible toindependent operators and smaller shops historically priced out of enterprisedata contracts.

## TitleLab (Courthouse Intelligence)
TitleLab is Energy Domain's patent-pending courthouseintelligence product for upstream land and mineral teams. It is in early accessnow, with general availability planned for Q2 2026. Page:https://www.energydomain.com/titlelab
The problem it addresses: land teams spend weeks pullingcourthouse records, building run sheets in spreadsheets, and cross-referencinglegal descriptions across disconnected systems. County clerk indexes have gapsand inconsistent legal-description fields, so standard searches return partialresults. Courthouse data is unstructured and scattered across 254 counties inTexas alone. The outcome TitleLab targets is faster underwriting, fewer titledefects at closing, and lower cost per deal.
Rather than rely on the clerk-supplied index (a handful offields per instrument), TitleLab processes the underlying document. Everyinstrument runs through an extraction engine that aims to capture two to threetimes the attributes legacy providers abstract.
Core capabilities:
- **Document Processing** — Classifies instruments across90+ document types (deeds, assignments, leases, liens, probate), extracts everygrantor and grantee with transaction role, and captures lease provisionsincluding royalty rates, terms, and severance clauses.
- **Legal Description Parsing** — Texas surveys andabstracts, PLSS coordinates, and platted properties parsed and normalized intodistinct property tracts, each georeferenced and linked to producing assets.Structured extraction, not OCR.
- **Chain-of-Title Construction** — "Smart Chain"technology builds run sheets by matching legal descriptions and pulling priorreferenced instruments back through five degrees of separation, includinglegacy book/volume/page citations, then identifies gaps and flags potentialdefects.
- **Advanced Index** — A structured data layer built on topof raw county records, searchable by section, survey, abstract, or party name, returning structured results instead of a stack of documents.
- **Integrated with Energy Domain Data** — Documents connectdirectly to API numbers, unit names, and lease names, so users move fromownership verification to economic analysis without switching systems. AOIalerts notify users of new filings whether or not they subscribe to TitleLab.
Early-access status: 20 counties live (Permian core),expanding to New Mexico and remaining Texas counties; records go back as far as1800; prior references traced through five degrees.
Who uses it: independent landmen, oil & gas attorneys, mineral brokers, abstract companies, operator land departments, mineralacquisition funds, A&D teams, and PE-backed energy firms.

## Datasets
Validated, normalized upstream datasets tied to confirmedAPI numbers — state-reported data plus proprietary derived datasets.
- [Well HeaderData](https://www.energydomain.com/data/well-header-data): The foundationalrecord for every well — API, operator, lease, location, target formations, status, and permit information, sourced directly from state agencies.
- [ProductionData](https://www.energydomain.com/data/production-data): Monthly oil, gas, andwater volumes exactly as reported by the states.
- [AllocatedProduction](https://www.energydomain.com/data/allocated-production): Well-levelproduction estimates built on volume conservation and empirical well-test data, for commingled leases across Texas and Louisiana.
- [WaterProduction](https://www.energydomain.com/data/water-production): Well-levelwater estimates derived from test-based ratios and allocated hydrocarbonvolumes.
- [EURForecasts](https://www.energydomain.com/data/eur-forecasts): Well-levelliquids, gas, and water EURs from Energy Domain's proprietary forecast engine.
- [ConfirmedInterval](https://www.energydomain.com/data/confirmed-interval): Proprietaryidentification of each horizontal well's primary landing zone — the intervalwhere 51% or more of production originates. Wells are programmatically landedat the micro-reservoir level using formation tops and a Z-Map dataset (e.g.,Wolfcamp A/B/C-D, Spraberry benches in the Permian). This is a derived dataset, not a pass-through of the often-incomplete state-reported target formationfield.
- [DirectionalSurveys](https://www.energydomain.com/data/directional-surveys): Measureddepth, inclination, azimuth, and survey stations for all horizontal wells witha filed survey — full lateral path visibility.
- [Spacing](https://www.energydomain.com/data/spacing):Left/right neighbor detection and spacing classification for every horizontalwell.
- [RigActivity](https://www.energydomain.com/data/rig-activity): Daily rig positionupdates combining direct drilling-contractor reporting (~65%) with satelliteimagery, at 94–99% coverage versus Baker Hughes.
-[Pre-Permits](https://www.energydomain.com/data/pre-permits-submitted-permits):Where operators plan to drill before permits are officially approved — 90%+ ofpermits pass through submitted/mapping status before approval and don't appearon the RRC public map.
- [FracFocusCompletions](https://www.energydomain.com/data/fracfocus-completions): FullFracFocus integration for completion tracking on every stimulated well.
- [Operator & ReservoirAliasing](https://www.energydomain.com/data/operator-reservoir-aliasing):Unified naming across inconsistent state and operator reporting.
- [AppraisalData](https://www.energydomain.com/data/appraisal-data-texas-mineral-appraisals):Annual Texas mineral appraisal values and tax rolls joined to well and leaserecords, included at no additional cost.

## Methodology
Energy Domain publishes the methodology behind its deriveddatasets so estimates are defensible rather than black-box.
- [AllocationMethodology](https://www.energydomain.com/data/allocation-methodology): Texasand Louisiana report production at the lease level, not the well level; whenmultiple commingled wells produce to one tank battery, only the lease totalreaches the state. Allocation rests on three principles — volume conservation(well-level estimates always sum exactly to the reported lease total),test-based allocation (well tests drive proportional distribution), andstate-appropriate methods (Louisiana includes explicit temporal data; Texasdoes not, so a "Well Date Finder" algorithm synthesizes completiontiming, production peaks, and other signals). Confidence is transparent:single-well leases are definitive, dense-test multi-well leases are high confidence, and sparse data or active drilling adds documented uncertainty. Allocationsre-run as new tests arrive.
- [Rig DataMethodology](https://www.energydomain.com/data/rig-data-methodology): Daily rigtracking via a multi-source method combining direct contractor reporting withsatellite-imagery verification of geofenced permitted pad sites.
- [SurveyProcessing](https://www.energydomain.com/data/survey-processing): Processingand delivery of three-dimensional directional survey data for all horizontalwells — measured depth, inclination, azimuth, and survey station measurements.
- [Pre-PermitMethodology](https://www.energydomain.com/data/pre-permit-methodology): TheTexas Railroad Commission publishes approved permits, but most permits passthrough submitted and mapping statuses first; Energy Domain surfaces thoseearlier stages.
